The Harvey Ambulance Service held its first organizational meeting on March 29, 1971. The first order of business for the new organization was to organize a district. The original area consisted of Harvey, Martin, Anamoose, Drake, and fourteen surrounding townships. The second order of business was to raise money to buy an ambulance. The funds were raised locally and with the help of a grant from the State Emergency of Health Services a new ambulance was ordered: a Chevrolet Suburban, converted into an ambulance. It arrived in August 1971 and was immediately placed into service.
As of 2012, the Service now has 3 ambulances: emergency unit 6395, a 2007 Ford E-450; backup unit 6397, a 1999 Ford E-450; and transfer unit 6398, a 1999 Ford E-450. Additionally, the Anamoose substation has a 2004 Chevy Tahoe 4x4, fully equipped.
